Fifth Third Foundation provides free admission to Freedom Center on select dates

Fifth Third Community Days at the Freedom Center offers free admission on fifth and third Sunday each month, MLK Day and Juneteenth from 2022 to 2026

CINCINNATI — The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and Fifth Third Foundation today announced a collaborative initiative that provides free admission, including special exhibitions, on the fifth and third Sunday of each month between 2022 and 2026. Fifth Third Community Days at the Freedom Center remove the financial barrier to visiting on 16 dates in 2022, expanding access to the Freedom Center.

“Our Fifth Third Community Days will be transformative for our community,” said Woodrow Keown, Jr., president and COO of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. “Fifth Third Foundation’s support will provide opportunities for more people to learn about freedom through an immersive experience at the Freedom Center. Our goal is to create more advocates for equity and bring about meaningful social justice change by inspiring future generations of freedom seekers.”

Museums have the power to shape and reflect their communities, making organizations like the Freedom Center community anchors and conveners of dialogue. They provide insight and perspective into our shared history, providing lessons from the past that are priceless in our ongoing quest for equity. Further, the Freedom Center creates a collective heritage, a more complete history that unites our local and national community. Access to the Freedom Center and its galleries equips a new generation of freedom seekers and advocates with the education and resources needed to make positive personal and collective impact.

“Fifth Third Foundation is committed to supporting organizations and initiatives that create strong, vibrant communities,” said Heidi Jark, senior vice president and managing director of the Foundation Office at Fifth Third Bank. “Together, Fifth Third Foundation and the Freedom Center are investing in our community in a way that will educate and empower the current and future generations.”

Fifth Third Community Days provides free admission to the Freedom Center on the fifth and third Sunday of each month, plus MLK Day and Juneteenth. Guests can reserve tickets online or in-person. To learn more, visit freedomcenter.org/53-community-days.
