In partnership with the Osher Lifetime Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Cincinnati, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is proud to welcome Cincinnati artist Kathy Stockman who will lead a conversation about Jacob Lawrence's The Migration Series using the practice of visio divina.

Visio divina, or "divine seeing," is a Christian practice of prayer by contemplating on an artwork. Kathy Stockman will be using a secular version, focusing on meditation, contemplation, and discussion to take a deeper dive into this seminal work.

Jacob Lawrence's The Migration Series is a group of paintings by African-American painter Jacob Lawrence. The 60 panels depict the migration of African Americans from the South to Northern states that began in the 1910s.

Learning is a lifelong journey. The Freedom Center is proud to welcome the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at University of Cincinnati once a month for a dedicated lecture or program open to all museum guests. OLLI offers courses for personal enrichment for adult learners. The courses are typically held in-person during the daytime and do not have tests or grades, just the joy of learning new things for all participants.
