Join us for a Fireside Chat with U.S. Mint Director Ventris Gibson, the first person of color to lead the agency in its 232-year history. Director Gibson will share how the U.S. Mint is making history by ensuring our nation’s pantheon of heroes, etched indelibly onto our coins, reflects the true diversity of those who have built our nation of freedom. Learn more and RSVP below.
The exclusive Fireside Chat with U.S. Mint Director Ventris Gibson will take place in our Harriet Tubman Theater on Friday, July 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Dr. Gibson will celebrate Harriet Tubman’s life and legacy as she is honored in a series of commemorative coins, each representing a different period of her storied life: a clad half-dollar representing Tubman’s service as a military leader during the Civil War; a silver dollar celebrating her iconic role as a conductor on the Underground Railroad; and a $5 gold coin depicting Tubman as a humanitarian during the final five decades of her life.
