Scheduled Programming
In addition to free admission for the day, we are proud to welcome community partners for unique programming:

The People's Banner Workshop with Migiwa Orimo
12:00 p.m., Grand Hall (2nd Floor)
The People’s Banner Workshop is an ongoing project facilitated by artist Migiwa Orimo. The workshop provides free visual aids (banners, signs, props) for direct action, protest rallies, picket lines, and other street actions for social justice. Grounded in the notion of “Citizen Artists,” the People’s Banner Workshop welcomes participation of both artist and non-artist citizens in order to amplify their collective voice. Orimo approaches the workshop as a mechanism for not just production, but building comradeship.

Welcoming Echoes: John Lewis and His Bridge to Truth
3:30 p.m., Harriet Tubman Theater
Welcoming Echoes: John Lewis and His Bridge to Truth is a play by Paul Bergman that follows John Lewis from his youthful days to his gradual justice-awakening and full embrace of the "Beloved Community." We gain a sense of who and what shaped him as a child and why his star shined so brightly. Although he suffered the indignity of many arrests due to peaceful but “inconvenient” demonstrations, his brilliance never dimmed. The words of Lewis, the power of his commitment and the poignancy of painful reversals join in a tapestry of a dynamic decade. All this before proceeding to the shadows, then the glory of his later years.
