This experience, designed for grades 9-12, examines the history of slavery in the United States, including the concept of race and its’ impact on society. Understanding how race and slavery influenced our country’s foundation permits students to recognize its significance in modern culture. In addition, the experience illustrates the principles and methods used by abolitionists, conductors, and freedom seekers of the Underground Railroad to promote social justice.
