It is the truth that leads to reconciliation, and the truth is the Underground Railroad was an essential movement that leads us towards freedom and equality. The history and the legacy of the Underground Railroad is critical for our collective understanding.

Join us in kicking off International Underground Railroad Month with a panel discussion about the legacies of the first social justice movement in the United States. Panelists include:

  • Dr. Christy Hyman, Assistant Professor of Human Geography in the African American Studies Program at Mississippi State University
  • Rita R. Thomas, Administrator at Central State University
  • William Parrish, Founder and Executive Director of the Eckstein Cultural Arts Center
