David Niven, PhD, is a political science professor at the University of Cincinnati and an Andrew Carnegie Fellow. David's current research focuses on the voting experience and obstacles to participation nationwide. David's peer-reviewed work on gerrymandering has appeared in leading academic journals including Social Science Quarterly and Election Law Journal. David's commentary on Ohio and national elections has been quoted by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, NPR, CNN and numerous other outlets. David has testified as an expert in gerrymandering litigation and has authored several friend of the court briefs on redistricting, ballot questions, and political representation.
