Join us for our Fifth Third Community Day on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! See the Freedom Center’s newest exhibit about the Fisk Jubilee Singers, Jubilation!, join various programs and talks, learn about service-oriented organizations tabling throughout the center and participate in a community blood drive hosted by Hoxworth Blood Center.
MLK Day tickets are free, but registration is recommended. Reserve your free tickets online or in-person. Fifth Third Community Days are made possible through the generous support of the Fifth Third Foundation.
Schedule
- 11:00 to 5:00 – All exhibits and self-guided activities available, including the new Jubilation! and the temporary Anti-Poverty Pop-Up Museum with Poverty Liberation Collective.
- 11:30 to 1:00 – Home ownership symposium with Union Savings and Guardian Savings Bank.
- 12:00 to 5:00 – Hoxworth Blood Drive. Walkups are accepted, but donors are encouraged to register in advance. All donors at the Freedom Center will receive a free UC puffy vest + $10 Kroger gift card while supplies last.
- 12:00 to 5:00 – Service Fair with tabling service organizations including Poverty Liberation Collective, The Zonta Club of Cincinnati, CABVI, Ignite Peace, Groundwork Ohio River Valley and HOME.
- 1:00-2:00 – King Legacy Celebration keynote Kahlil Greene and Dr. Megan Gerhardt in discussion on the topic of intergenerational empowerment and collaboration (Harriet Tubman Theater).
- 2:30-3:30 – Trudy Gaba, NURFC Social Justice Curator presenting “Lifting as We Climb: A glimpse into Historically Black Benevolent and Mutual Aid Societies" (Harriet Tubman Theater).
