Join us for an afternoon in reflection and celebration of 50 years of Hip Hop as Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries and Hip Hop trailblazer Big Daddy Kane discuss the genre's role as a tool of resistance and resilience.

Excerpts from the PBS documentary series Fight the Power: How Hip Hop Changed the World will be screened, followed by a discussion on the revolutionary spirit of Hip Hop. Jatara McGee, WLWT reporter and the President of the Greater Cincinnati Association of Black Journalists, will moderate the discussion. Panelists include:

• Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries, advisor for the documentary and associate professor of history at The Ohio State University where he teaches courses on the Civil Rights and Black Power Movement.
• Big Daddy Kane, Brooklyn-born rapper, producer and actor considered one of the most influential MCs in Hip Hop. Along with the lyrical ingenuity he brought to the genre, he also introduced live performances.

3:00 p.m. – Program begins

DJ Guy Wes will spin up Hip Hop classics in celebration of the genre's half-century of influence when doors open until the program begins.

This program is free and open to the public. Guests should enter the museum at the Rosa Parks Street Entrance.
