CINCINNATI, OH (May 14, 2018) – The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center will host Community Conversation: Trauma & Gun Violence Thursday, May 17 at 6:00 p.m. The program is free and open to the public. RSVPs are requested.
Community Conversation: Trauma & Gun Violence seeks to raise awareness involving at risk youth and young adults, enhance the understanding of choices and consequences, provide perspective on the ‘School-To-Prison Pipeline’, and explores sustainable solutions. Who U Gonna Serve? presented by Aaron Pullins III, Founder of Men Involved and CEO of the APZ Group, LLC, will be screened during the program.
“This is a meaningful discussion that will address a very important issue taking place not only in our community locally, but on a national level,” says Christopher Miller, director of education at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. “By having this dialogue, we hope to inspire the public to explore solutions that can alleviate the gun problem that effects us all.”
A panel discussion will take place, following the screening, with thought-leaders from the community including Children’s Hospital Surgeon Dr. Victor Garcia, Municipal Judge Fanon Rucker, Hamilton County Coroner Dr. Lakshmi Kode Sammarco, Ohio 9th District State Senator Cecil Thomas and special youth representatives.
