Middle and High School youth are invited to participate in an empowering self-awareness workshop facilitated by author and educator, David Spellmon. Youth will create their own vision boards after discussing social and emotional intelligence through music. The three-hour workshop will promote literacy, art and encourage youth to visualize the future they imagine for themselves.

David Spellmon is an experienced Behavioral Specialist whose main objectives are sending off infectious positive energy and meeting students where they are at to improve their academic and behavioral status. He is CEO and Founder of Positive Archer Solutions, an educational consulting firm that specializes in Culturally Responsive Social Emotional Learning, building Positive School Culture, and boosting up the Social Capital of students. David specializes in creating innovative ways to incorporate hip-hop pedagogy, social and emotional learning, service learning, and cultural responsiveness to make an impact on his students.

His book, Just Like Music: Social Emotional Learning Inspired by Hip-Hop, will be featured in the workshop and gifted to each participant. While the workshop is meant for youth participants, adults are welcome to observe in the space.

This program is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, contact Asia Harris, Manager of Youth Programs at aharris@nurfc.org.
