Veterans Receive Free Admission to National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Through November 30

CINCINNATI, OH (November 10, 2017) – Veterans can enjoy free general admission to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center through Thursday, November 30, 2017. The announcement was made today as the nation celebrates and uplifts veterans on Veterans Day.
To show appreciation for the service Veterans across the region and beyond have provided, free admission will be granted by showing veteran identification at front desk services. The free admission allow guests who typically may not be able to visit the museum opportunities to tour exhibits such as The Rosa Parks Experience, the Open Your Mind: Understanding Implicit Bias Learning Lab, as well as see new special exhibition The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection, open through March 3.
“We are excited to offer this token of appreciation to the men and women who have put themselves in harm’s way and fought selflessly for our freedoms,” says Dan Hurley, Interim President of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. “By offering free admission to veterans for the remainder of November, we at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, honor and thank you.”
Veterans and the general public can also see photographs of the Allied War Exposition from Cincinnati’s Soldiers: Men and Women in the First World War on freedomcenter.org. The Allied War Exposition was a World War I exhibit that traveled by special train throughout the United States from 1917 until 1919. The exhibit illustrated trench warfare, weapons, new technologies, medical treatments and other war activities of the Allied Powers.
General admission for veterans to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is free through Thursday, November 30 during regular museum hours, Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. For more information about exhibits and programming at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, visit freedomcenter.org.
