The number of women in U.S. prisons has grown by 800% over the past 40 years. And the vast majority are mothers. In a Midwestern state caught between harsh drug sentencing and rising incarceration for women, three unforgettable mothers—Tomika, Lydia, and Amanda— return home from prison and rebuild their lives after being separated from their children for years. Their stories overlap at a new reentry program for women, run by Malika, an advocate formerly incarcerated in the same prison. Learn more at apartthemovie.com.

The Freedom Film Series is a new partnership between LADD and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. This series will feature at least four films this year, addressing issues of systemic injustice, inviting the audience into dialogue with the issues presented in the films during conversations with filmmakers, content matter experts and activists following the screenings.

Attend virtually or in person. Tickets are $15 each and available now.
