I have always wondered where our extended family was. Listed on the archives of the deceased are my mother and father: Clarence and Frances Toodle. They had 12 children - I am the 12th. Those 12 had 52 grandchildren and at last count 63 great grandchildren. My father had two brothers - Napoleon and Charles (Charles is also listed in the deceased archives in 1977)My father and mother died in New Jersey, but raised us in rural Kentucy (nope, you never heard of the place - McRoberts). In the last 6 years we have lost three sisters(Barbara, Glady and Brenda Jean), 1 brother (Jerry Douglas)- all from NJ; three grandchildren (Morris - NY, Clifford - NJ and Dwayne Juan - NV). We knew from the Toodle side that there was a lot of things that happened, but at a loss as to how to find out. My father was born in Alabama. I spoke with someone (a Toodle) from Alabama in 2002 that stated that there was going to be a family reunion there. Unfortunately, I could not attend because I had just relocated to Arizona. Any information you can give me would be helpful. A friend of mine that travels a lot said that there are a family of Toodles in NC. I know we all have to be related in some way. My grandfather's name was Charles Toodle. He looked white but did not try to pass as white. Our family has a lot of character, courage and talent - just wondering - where did all these traits, including good looks and strength come from? Reply anytime.

I was born on a Monday I do believe in a town called Strunk,McCreary County, Kentucky on December 6,1943 to Clarence Rosevelt Troxel and Myrtle Mae Tapley Troxel. I was the baby of Nine children,5 brothers and 3 sisters. Course I made the 4th girl. I grew up in the hills of KY. I graduated May 1962, and then I left Ky. and came to Cincinnati, Ohio so I could find a job. I found several jobs along through the years and in 1963 I started working @ Monsanto company and I was working there still when I met this guy (who turned out to become my Husband)in 1966 and we dated for over a year and then we got married in 1967.We were married @ :The first Church of God in (Lindenwald),Hamilton, Ohio by Rev. Leonard W. Snyder.
I continued working there until August 1968 when I quit work to stay home and take care of my 1st Born child, James William Sheffstall. Then in 1969 I had a daughter, my 2nd child,Lorrianne Sue Sheffstall.,Then in 1973 I had my 3rd child,Jason Matthew Sheffstall. My husband (Bill) and My 3 Children were my life.

Well, I can't really use this to my advantage much as I was adopted from Korea as a child, but I know my adoptive family came over on boats from like Norway and Germany, but thats cool there is a free way to get started as most places charge you and arm and a leg!

I have often thought about trying to find out my family history. It seems virtually impossible. I have always been fascinated with the African American story, but trying to uncover my family's portion in it seems daunting. I guess I have to start somewhere to find out.

I am from Plymouth, NC and the Toodle family has been well respected for decades. I hope you have found the fruits of your journey. It is very hard to find your folks, I have been looking for 10 years now. The bad part is the elder relatives who say: aww who wants to bring up all that old stuff?
