Summer Camps

The Freedom Center offers Summer Camp experiences June 24 - August 8. The Camps are for children who are part of an organized camp group, which must have booked a camp at least two weeks in advance. We are not able to accommodate individual children of any age.

Morning Sessions: 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M.

Afternoon Sessions: 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M.

The camps consist of three age specific tours designed to teach children the difference between freedom and unfreedom, and of the struggles of freedom past and present. Choose from the following list of tours the one that is appropriate for your campers:

Underground Railroad Tour: Ages 8 - 11 (Grades 3)

Tour includes Freedom Seeking Adventure, Brothers of the Borderland film, Storytelling, Journal Reflection and Dialogue.

Internal Slave Trade Tour: Ages 11 - 13 (Grades 7-8)

Tour includes Hands -On Mural Lesson, Slave Pen Activity, Brothers of the Borderland film, Journal Reflection and Dialogue.

Contemporary Freedom Tour: Ages 13 - 16 (Grades 9 - 12

Tour includes Suite for Freedom film, Struggle Continues gallery and art project, Everyday Freedom Heroes, Journal Reflection and Dialogue.

Cost of camp is $4.50 per student with one free chaperone for every ten paid students. Additional adults are $9.50 each.
