School Visits

School Visits to the Freedom Center are organized around one of five, grade-appropriate group tours:

  • Journey to Freedom (Grades K-2)
  • The North Star (Grades 3-4)
  • Early America Geography, Economics, &Slavery (Grades 5-8)
  • The Coming of the Civil War (Grades 5-8)
  • Resistance: Unfreedoms, Past &Present (Grades 9-12)

Each journey through the Freedom Center can is approximately two hours long. They offer an interactive learning opportunity that encourages teamwork, observation, critical thinking, experiential learning and open dialogue. Every tour of the Freedom Center is conducted by a trained exhibit interpreter.

School Visit Hours

Tuesday through Friday: 10:00 A.M, 10:30 A.M., and 11:00 A.M.

A confirmation letter will be sent to you after your payment has been received. Your confirmation will include directions and parking information. You will be required to present your group's confirmation letter and pre-registration form upon arrival to the Freedom Center.

Guided school tours are available for public, private, parochial, charter, and home school groups. We also provide a self-guided journey option. Self-guided tours may be booked any time after noon, Tuesday through and all day on Saturday.

All school group tours must be booked at least two weeks prior to your visit.
