CFO/COO (FT)
Reports To: CEO

POSITION SUMMARY:
The CFO/COO reports to the CEO and is responsible for the effective financial,investment and operations management of the Museum. The CFO/COO is a member of the Freedom Center senior management team.
RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct the accounting and related financial activities of the Freedom Center including Retail Store and auxiliaries to ensure sound fiscal administration. Recommend appropriate policies and establish internal control procedures to safeguard the assets of the Center.
- Prepare, with the Senior Staff, the Museum's annual operating and capital budgets and mid-year budget revision. Serve as liaison to division heads, department heads, and on accounting/financial matters including the operating and capital budgets
- Direct preparation, review, and analysis of monthly financial reports to ensure that the Center's financial condition is in accordance with the guidelines established by the Management and the Board. Provide regular financial reports to the Finance Committee to inform the committee members of the Center's financial status. Provide staff support to Finance Committee.
- Manage the Finance Office to insure that the Center's accounting and financial functions are performed effectively. Select, manage, develop, and evaluate the Finance Office staff (indirect) to effectively meet divisional goals.
- Direct cash activities to maintain appropriate cash levels. Manage banking relationships to optimize service and minimize cost to the Center.
- Establish and maintain accounting control over the Center's restricted and endowment funds.
- Monitor the investment portfolio. Provide staff support to the Investment Committee.
- Direct preparation for annual audit and other audit activities. Coordinate issuance of annual financial statements.
- Manage preparation of tax returns and related reports to ensure compliance with governmental reporting requirements. Coordinate preparation of the financial portion of grant reports and billings to ensure compliance with requirements and policies of funding sources.
- Direct the earned income activities of the Retail Store to provide maximum net income consistent with and in support of the programmatic and educational missions of the Center.
- Contribute, as a member of Senior Staff. To the policy making for and management of the Center. Attend meetings of the Board of Trustees and, as appropriate, of various Board Communities.
- Continue personal professional development.
- Direct IT Staff, including renew all proposed acquisition. Audio Visual Equipment and maintenance agreements.
- Direct Facilities Activities, including on-going maintenance, cleaning contractors, upkeep of facilities and review of capital purchases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 5 years relevant accounting/finance and high-level management experience.
- Must be a leader and able to provide operational level direction to the Museum's financial activities.
- Ability to assess and implement opportunities for improvement in financial administration.
- Exceptional and demonstrated analytical, organizational and supervisory skills.
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills to foster effective working relationships at all levels.
- Extensive use and knowledge of computerized accounting applications and spreadsheet software.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or Comparable field
- CPA required or equivalent experience.
Marketing Director (FT)
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Marketing & Communications
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marketing Director is responsible for creating and implementing marketing programs that successfully relates the Freedom Center's mission to a wide audience. The incumbent will be responsible for quality marketing/promotional partnerships with corporate and non-profit organizations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify highest potential target audiences and create marketing initiatives to reach these audiences.
- Propose executable marketing plans that generate new revenue opportunities for the Freedom Center.
- Implement Freedom Center promotions, including but not limited to special event rentals, public programs, group travel programs, fundraising initiatives and attendance development.
- Secure co-marketing sponsorships and promotional linkages with corporate sponsors, public entities.
- Provide internal leadership on marketing and promotional opportunities across departments.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of external relationships with marketing peers in the corporate, non-profit and museum communities at the local, state and national levels.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of an integrated marketing data base for use in strategic mail and email campaigns.
- Develop web-based marketing programs that raise the Freedom Center's online profile.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-8 years marketing or related field
- Knowledge of for-profit and non-profit marketing/promotional environment
- Experience in creating and implementing marketing strategies
- Effective program and budget management skills
- Demonstrated supervisory skills
- Knowledge of and experience with web-based marketing strategies
- Excellent writing and organizational skills
- High degree of flexibility
- Work effectively with senior-level leadership
EDUCATION:
- B.A. in Marketing or related field
